I doubt it would have a different EC, it will probably work too. You can check the board model with something like lshw
or inxi
, if it's 0JT83K
. it should be fine. Other than that, I don't know other than opening the laptop and reading the chip itself.

@patlefort Thanks, yes I do have a Dell G5SE-5505 (Ryzen 9 version). I just wasn't sure if the various cpu versions of this laptop meant possibly different version EC chips as well. BTW, do you know how I can check the offsets/addresses of my EC chip just to be safe.

You should definitely do that if your laptop is different. This is meant for Dell G5SE-5505 laptops, neither I or the author of this program can guarantee that it will work on anything else. If the EC chip and its firmware is different, it will likely not work.

Do I need to check on my EC chip version/addresses before I use this script? The github shows this warning "Be aware that this binary may hurt your hardware if you don't have the exact same hardware as mine (EC chip). Correct the EC offsets in the sources files according to your hardware if necessary." Thanks

Thanks for writing the Arch wiki for this laptop and thanks for this script. You are the real hero.

If you updated to version 3.3.2-2 from a previous version, enable the service unit dell-g5se-fanctl-sleep.service
like such: sudo systemctl enable dell-g5se-fanctl-sleep.service
. It will automatically restart the service after resume.
