It refuses to build with this error:

The license should be LGPL http://openil.sourceforge.net/license.php

Thanks for the report.
This seems fixed in 1.8.0, which I updated this package to.

OpenGL support did not seem to work properly, so I patched it in.

doesn't build because of undefined uchar in src-IL/src/il_jp2.c
-> s/uchar/unsigned char/
