This package fails to build when the 'BUILDDIR' variable in "/etc/makepkg.conf" is active. As written below, you need to replace "$startdir/src" with "${srcdir}" in the PKGBUILD.

A couple of suggestions. The current PKGBUILD contains "strtdir". Not everyone builds in the strtdir and the build fails if cd $strtdir is in the PKGBUILD. The directive should be cd $srcdir. Somewhere there was discussion of this on the arch-dev-public or arch-general mailing list and if you look at the PKGBUILD.proto the $srcdir is used.

Thanks, I updated the source, arch, url, and it also prefers the system install of Ruby in case you are using RVM or similar.
