Is gconf really necessary? I tried a build without it and it worked fine. It's the only python2 dependency I have and I would like to get rid of it...

Just remove

    chmod 4755 "${pkgdir}/opt/${pkgname}/chrome-sandbox"

from the package function.

Confirming package fails to build because of missing chrome-sandbox. https://i.imgur.com/l2uCWbp.png

You added the chmod for the sandbox but forgot to remove the wrapper script

Mode 4755 is the intended way for the setuid sandbox to run. You can read https://chromium.googlesource.com/chromium/src/+/HEAD/docs/linux_sandboxing.md for more information.

Chromium devs have been phasing out the suid sandbox, but it remains an option for older kernels. Arch's kernel is compiled without User Namespace support, so the suid sandbox is still the go-to for Arch.

I would just set the appropriate mode for the file as intended and if the binary is a concern for you, just delete it and use --no-sandbox.

@Morganamilo I simply posted how to quickly fix it by looking at the error message, I can understand why you don't want a setui binary on your system though

fettouhi commented on 2019-04-10 11:19

The desktop entry still points to the executable in opt. So sh script be run if you just click the icon on your desktop.

@1024x2 Is that a fix to change to 4755 or just a workaround?
