Is anyone else getting a segfault on connect? For me, the DisplayLinkManager process crashes every time I connect my Dock, it worked before with the old version.

I had to make an account and comment on the awesome job francoism90 has done. After evenings of trying to get my DisplayLink to work, this package fixed my problems without any more configuration fiddling. Thank you so much for your work!

I got it working with the latest kernel 5.16.0-arch1-1, evdi-git and displaylink-beta. Strange that now it does not work with lts kernels at all. I have Intel integrated graphics with modesetting driver and this settings:

/etc/modprobe.d ➭ cat evdi.conf
options evdi initial_device_count=2

and

/usr/share/X11/xorg.conf.d ➭ cat 20-evdidevice.conf
Section "OutputClass"
    Identifier "DisplayLink"
    MatchDriver "evdi"
    Driver "modesetting"
    Option  "AccelMethod" "none"
EndSection

@notresponding2u Don't feel bad, it worked for my just fine with awesome window manager and KDE Plasma until now. Not sure what broke it. Before, there were some random periods when it just did not work.

This is what worked for me for the archlinux lts 5.13 kernel: evdi 1.9.1 Displaylink 5.4-3 After last update to 5.14 it stopped working (this kernel should be supported, at least by this beta version).

Now I just get this in the journalctl, when I connect the DisplayLink device:

Jan 14 20:23:58 pc-asus kernel: evdi: [I] Attaching to usb:1-2.4.2
Jan 14 20:24:00 pc-asus ModemManager[470]: <info>  [base-manager] couldn't check support for device '/sys/devices/pci0000:00/0000:00:14.0/usb1/1-2/1-2.4/1-2.4.2': not supported by any plugin

@notresponding2u I'm using evdi-git with the latest Linux-zen kernel.

Could you try a different Desktop Environment (just for testing)? On KDE Plasma I had really difficulties to get the DP to work, on Gnome Shell it just works fine.

This is my setup:

$ cat /etc/modprobe.d/evdi.conf
options evdi initial_loglevel=0 initial_device_count=2 disable_texture_import=1

Yes, I have evdi-git, no errors in the journalctl. I have tried to replug the usb, reboot, replug the hdmi cable, reboot. Whatever came into mind.

At what version of evdi this should work, 1.10? And should it be evdi or evdi-git?

I have also tried with kernel 5.10-1-lts. I don't get what I am dong wrong.
