That's a good point, I didn't consider that. Thanks for the package again, it's great to revisit these time to time!

As far as I know, this shouldn't have any downsides compared with the original/unpatched source package, unless recompiling it on a modern system with modern compilers gives a performance boost. It's also possible the source release has some fixes never rolled into a Linux patch, but I can't speak to that. I'm not an expert on DooM3 stuff :)

My bad you're correct, I meant that it fetched OK. Is there any downside to this version compared to the GPL one? I'm not sure if there is, but having all the features is nice.

This PKGBUILD doesn't compile anything, it's just the binaries from Id Software for Linux, compiled by them years ago. I would expect that everything should work as originally intended by Id Software. It most definitely has the depth fail shadow code, since Id Software compiled these binaries long before having to figure out a replacement in the GPL release.

Still compiles and runs well. Shoudl maybe mention this is not the GPL version and the other package (doom3) is the GPL version. It would help alleviate confusion between this and the other big package. I haven't tested if this version allows Bink videos and Depth fail shadows but the GPL version does not. When I have some time later tonight I will see if the videos work with this and post an update. Thanks for the package!

Compiles and runs without any problems. Thanks.
