You should move patching commands into prepare().

Additionally, I found a bug: gcc's stack smashing protection relies on the assumption that %fs/%gs segments don't change during a function's execution, which is broken by some of dosemu's signal handlers on x86_64. This makes dosemu crash when trying to run DJGPP-compiled programs. The problem can be worked around by compiling with -fno-stack-protector, or by applying this patch:

sed -ie 's/((no_instrument_function/&,optimize("no-stack-protector")/' \
src/arch/linux/async/sigsegv.c \

Agreed, thanks.

The master branch of dosemu is very old (with the last commit 2013). I propose downloading the devel branch instead which is active.

I got hit by the "/media/cdrom" bug which should be fixed in git

Please add DEVLOAD, DISPLAY and KEYB to the FreeDOS package. These are pretty essential, DISPLAY is even mentioned in AUTOEXEC.BAT. Also, set NLSPATH=Z:\NLS

Though it won't build anyway. Patches apply with errors, one patch no longer exists, and even after disabling all patches it spews errors. You have to sed -ie '/yyget_leng/ s/int/size_t/' src/base/init/lexer.h, then it will build.

Updating this package so it builds with FreeDOS 1.1. It's not an official freedos tar from the DOSEMU project, I've built it myself. However it does fix a lot of issues (mainly stability) with the old FreeDOS 1.0, and additionally supports Windows 3.x now without requiring you to need MS-DOS.
