iptables-nft in [core] provides a compatible command line interface to ebtables but use nf_tables kernel API as a backend.

This package is the original ebtables software which use the kernel X_tables API as backend.

So you need this when you want to sticks with X_tables as kernel backend.

Yes, there is no reason to install this package unless you specifically need this implementation of ebtables.

Doesn't https://archlinux.org/packages/core/x86_64/iptables-nft/ provide this?
