The PKGBUILD on pastebin seems to work fine for me. The play/stop/pause buttons in the debug view are there and it seems that nothing is wrong. I'll do some more testing and report back in case I'll find any issue.
Thanks for your support!

if your problem continues with this PKGBUILD, please try the one in this link. I copied the instructions from eclipse-cdt. Please inform me if it helps. If it does, I will update this package.

According to:

the problem with linuxtools may stem from a bad packaging in Arch, not from an upstream bug. I don't understand the point clearly, but maybe the maintainer of linuxtools could be able to understand.

Looks like there was a 3.1 release on 9/26. Maybe that fixes the Eclipse Luna compatibility issues? (I hope!)

I added a bug report as well:

It's not the only problem generated by linuxtools. In my setup I miss the "Team" context menu for those projects which are not associated to a repository. I opened a bug report here:

Currently, the only solution seems to remove linuxtools, as you said. By the way, I got feedback also for the "Generating Library Hover Help" issue I mention a couple of posts below:

Another issue: since the upgrade to Eclipse 4.4 / Luna, this plugin seems to be interfering with proper functioning of Eclipse. (The File Search tab disappears from the search dialog, debug "step into" / "step over" buttons disappear from debug mode, Eclipse shows two Window menus and two Help menus, etc.)

Anyone else seeing this / have any idea how to fix? Only solution I could find was to remove the plugin altogether. (Which obviously sucks, since then I can't use the eclipse-shelled plugin.)

Also for me the load time of Eclipse is reasonable, the problem is that after loading the workbench this "Generating Library Hover Help" thread starts eating almost all my CPU for 2-3 minutes and making the IDE almost unusable until it finishes.

I work with linuxtools constantly and I have the most recent packages. It takes Eclipse 15 seconds to load, but the CPU usage is less than 30%.
I'm not part of the development team of linuxtools, so from this part I can't help.
