@Zandrem, @johnishere oops sorry guys I made a packaging error, the /usr/bin/elecwhat script was still using electron37 instead of electron40
Fixed in 1.14.0-2

Same situation as @Zandrem, installing electron37 fixed the issue
Zandrem commented on 2026-04-28 15:54 (UTC)
Hi, I updated the package through Cachy-Update and it flagged electron37 as an orphan, so I removed it because it installed electron40 as its dependency, but then Elecwhat started crashing on startup. I reinstalled electron37 and it began working again. I'm kinda new to Linux, can someone explained to me why did this happen? I can provide further details if needed, I want to understand and learn. (Sorry in case it doesn't fit the context of the comment section).

@pierrec Hard for me to say, I use Cachy-Update, a fork of Arch-Update (I run CachyOS) which usually has not been a problem so far for updating also my AUR sourced packages.
But since you pushed 1.13.4-1 it has updated successfully, thank you very much!

@crovaxon is it possible that you didn't fetch the latest PKGBUILD?
I have now upgraded to 1.13.4-1, so you issue should go away anyway

I am unfortunately still facing the same error :(

@pierrec, with the latest update we got a checksum error
==> WARNING: Skipping verification of source file PGP signatures. ==> Validating source files with sha256sums... elecwhat ... Passed elecwhat-1.13.3.pacman ... FAILED ==> ERROR: One or more files did not pass the validity check!

Hi there, one of the checksums is wrong in the 1.13.3-1 update. Current PKGBUILD: sha256sums=('253626db788c9013d48ce2e4c4b3bf8b1bb709d9427e523bfbed520d3f3377e1' '0c6141b99e76d688c60a8a81fe65932fbb317cdb6a1ac5f099166a6a70749f70') what I got: sha256sums=('253626db788c9013d48ce2e4c4b3bf8b1bb709d9427e523bfbed520d3f3377e1' '68fc120aca214e45adde8bbcae076dcc78e08d059e3318f2a69333cc93cb5383') Cheers!

Hi @papakilo, thanks About the icons, there a way to override them https://github.com/piec/elecwhat/issues/30#issuecomment-3470456738
I'm thinking it may be worth including a builtin dark theme for icons in a future release, people seem really into this
OK, I'll take a look at electron38
