edit: now fixed with a cleanbuild!

I'm having trouble with the new element-desktop-nightly.sh SHA-256 sum. Should the sum not still be cf5a93..., rather than eec30...? On my machine, this new sum spurs a failed validity check.

That is not possible. The patch for element-desktop alters the compilation process, but this package uses the already-compiled deb from upstream.

To get the fix into this package, the upstream build process would have to be changed, see https://github.com/vector-im/element-web/issues/20926#issuecomment-1060050370

Alternatively, you could use element-desktop-git and ask the maintainers of that package to include the patch.

Please fix the libsqlcipher.so issue like it was fixed in the stable edition: https://github.com/archlinux/svntogit-community/commit/7bf5e3ecbe220f8847ee01727590751140964c01

Worth mentioning that the LD_PRELOAD=/usr/lib/libsqlcipher.so might cause crashes since upgrading from electron 13 to 15++: https://github.com/vector-im/element-web/issues/20926#issuecomment-1049223222

Without that, search in encrypted rooms doesn't work, but crashes are even worse.

Thanks for your hints. I have adjusted the PKGBUILD my auto-updater uses, so the .desktop file now uses the correct start script.

Yes, it should be running the /usr/bin script, this needs to be added to package(): https://github.com/SchildiChat/schildichat-desktop/commit/867ca2ceaa470535abfebad1e8b596bd47f732e7

What I couldn't solve till now is the desktop entry generated for auto start from inside the app when it gets enabled. In source form, this can be changed here: https://aur.archlinux.org/cgit/aur.git/tree/autolaunch.patch?h=element-desktop-git

This package ships /usr/bin/element-desktop-nightly which starts the actual electron binary from /opt/... with an extra LD_PRELOAD set, but the desktop file in /usr/share/applications just runs the file in /opt/... directly. Shouldn't it be running the /usr/bin script?

thanks! would you mind doing that right away (with a -2) instead? There's some weird bug which doesn't let me download the file but I can download the previous build perfectly. (the file from element.io downloads fine too)

@ryzokuken: The download works for me, but apparently packages.riot.im should not be used anymore. I have switched to packages.element.io.
