I have the same problem as quellen.

quellen commented on 2018-04-29 17:51 (UTC) (edited on 2018-04-29 17:54 (UTC) by quellen)

it doesn't run:

$ emulationstation

lvl0: Error - File type unknown!

emulationstation: /tmp/emulationstation-git/src/EmulationStation/es-core/src/resources/Font.cpp:17: Font::FontFace::FontFace(ResourceData&&, int): Assertion `!err' failed.

I updated the PKGBUILD to not delete the src directory. That makes total sense. Thanks for the report.

This ought not to delete the source folder at the end of package() as I've never seen a PKGBUILD do that before, and especially since the default config file subsequently tells you to look at a particular file in the source for the allowed scraping platform names.

Found a way to install themes from https://github.com/RetroPie/RetroPie-Setup/blob/master/scriptmodules/supplementary/esthemes.sh You just have to clone themes in /etc/emulationstation/themes. Example: git clone https://github.com/RetroPie/es-theme-simple.git

A patch to use .config instead would be appreciated. Also I get a black background and game names in blue, it’s quite ugly, it seems this package does not include any theme and the default one is buggy. I installed emulationstation-themes but I’m not sure at which config option should be changed to use that.

I think it's worth noticing that this new build uses ~/.emulationstation instead of ~/.config/emulationstation for the config files. Moving the folder (or its contents) will migrate your settings properly; there doesn't seem to be an incompatibility of any kind.

I thin installing vlc is sufficient. That's quite a weird dependency. I'll add it to the PKGBUILD later today.

Managed to compile it by installing libvlcpp-git from AUR (but it installs tons of unnecessary stuff).
