https://github.com/lanconnected/EnhanceIO seems to be updated regularly

I'll try to find time to figure out how to make an aur package :p

I see the maintainer changed since Frontier gave up on it, but has this been updated to work on recent kernels or not?

Frontier commented on 2016-01-07 06:19

Lack of time forced me to abandon maintaining the package.
The way it was originally written makes it even more difficult to cope with upcoming kernel changes, plus I switched to a full SSD system as SSD drives are very cheap these days.

yeah won't build on latest kernel. Please fix. My machine is so sluggish now ! :(

Kernels 4.3+ need a patch

Thanks a bunch, cerdiogenes. For some reason it didn't occur to me that 'linux-headers' was a discrete package from regular 'linux'.

Maybe 'linux-headers' should be added as a dependency, or at least mentioned in the wiki?

kdiogenes commented on 2015-08-25 15:25

@nicklej you need to install linux-headers before compiling this package.

Fails for me. makepkg says:

make -C /lib/modules/4.1.2-2-ARCH/build M=/home/nsguajiro/Downloads/enhanceio-dkms-git/src/enhanceio-dkms-git/Driver/enhanceio modules V=0
make[1]: Entering directory '/usr/lib/modules/4.1.2-2-ARCH/build'
make[1]: *** No rule to make target 'modules'. Stop.
make[1]: Leaving directory '/usr/lib/modules/4.1.2-2-ARCH/build'
Makefile:45: recipe for target 'modules' failed
make: *** [modules] Error 2
==> ERROR: A failure occurred in build().
Aborting...

@flrichar: I was just pointing out that sometimes the Python3 mess can happen via the frequent pacman updates, just that. I am not a Python developer either.

Can't really help on this one as both my systems (one running mainline 4.0.4-2, the other 4.0.4-ck-haswell) have no issues and it's been 12 days since I built the mainline one from scratch (i.e clean install).

@Frontier, I'm by no means a python dev, but I know a little bit... ran it through a debugger and it dies on the first line "from ctypes import *" ...
