From AUR submission guidelines:

"Do not commit mere pkgver bumps for VCS packages. They are not considered out of date when the upstream has new commits. Only do a new commit when other changes are introduced, such as changing the build process. "

Changing dependencies is considered changing build process in my opinion.

*-git packages can't really be outdated, unless the build process doesn't work anymore.

I did file a ticket asking for python-socksio on the upstream.

It really seems like it's not used.

As for the regular (non git package), the newer versions are betas and I'm not updating as of now until they are stable.
