After some more reading, it seems that FreeDVDBoot only supports some DVD Player versions so it seems that ESRPatch still has its use cases

Aha, seems "my" old package is still in use and even got a comment after all those years
Haven't used Arch in ages anymore, please explain me; what is a WRT deletion request?
Do note that after all these years, FreeDVDBoot has been developed, a tool to burn discs to DVD without any mods at all. Would say ESR has been made obsolete that way.
Wouldn't it be possible to add some sort of deprecation or disrecommendation flag to this package?

wrt deletion request: the upstream source is still available - even now. the forum is having some web issues right now, however
mods you can delete this if you want, but it still builds and is still very useful today
