extundelete v0.2.4 is compatible to e2fsprogs v1.42.13 at max. The reason are changes in e2fsprogs which are introduced since version 1.43. See my comment in ext4magic issue. Current package doesn't have restrictions on e2fsprogs version and being linked with newer versions works incorrectly.
