In case anyone else is having the same issue I'm having, with an error like this during the prepare() step:
/home/modula/.cache/paru/clone/fchat-rising-appimage/PKGBUILD: line 27: ./fchat-rising-appimage-1.27.3.AppImage: cannot execute binary file: Exec format error
This is a bug in the package upstream. This issue is reported in the project's github here: https://github.com/hearmeneigh/fchat-rising/issues/471
The workaround seems to be to use version 1.26.2 instead, which is available here: https://github.com/hearmeneigh/fchat-rising/releases/tag/v1.26.2
I can confirm that version launches for me.

No it looks like the auto updater is not a replacement for this package so i will continue to update this.

@Mek101 thanks, should be fixed now, looks like the new 1.16 has autoupdates, maybe we dont even need a package for this
