@dpeukert is this why it depends on npm6 rather than npm, forcing me to downgrade?

CodingCellist commented on 2021-04-21 08:25

Yes, it seems to build without problems now. Thanks for fixing things!

@CodingCellist @dragonek93: The package should work correctly now, let me know if you run into any other issues.

I am unsure if this is NPM's fault or Ferdi's, but I get the following error when trying to build after a fresh install of Arch:

npm ERR! code ERESOLVE

npm ERR! to accept an incorrect (and potentially broken) dependency resolution.

In case it's relevant, I'm using npm 7.7.5, electron8-bin, and nodejs 15.12.0. Any help would be much appreciated :)

@dpeukert Hi thank you so much, I tried that same issue, might be a server maintenance issue, I am getting a bunch of 404 errors. I will try in the morning. thank you so much for the prompt reply.

edit: I did try it today and it worked. Thanks

@sachmalh Hi, it looks the Electron folks didn't upload the latest release to npm. I've filed an issue upstream (https://github.com/electron/electron/issues/24869). Hopefully they'll fix it fairly soon, but if not, you can download and build an older version of electron8-bin which works (https://aur.archlinux.org/cgit/aur.git/snapshot/aur-67c060c24493db554de4f0ab5893913ab63a8dad.tar.gz) or you can switch to ferdi-bin for now.

Hi there, I am getting the following error during the build. I did "sudo npm install -g npm-check-updates" to no avail. please advice.

@AG_Caesar It is required by node-gyp for manually building node-sass on ARM platforms (and for some reason, the build sometimes fails for me with node-gyp complaining about python2 missing even on x86).

AG_Caesar commented on 2020-05-09 17:27

Why is python2 suddenly necessary to build?
