I think perl, bash and python should not be in the depends array, but in the optdepends array, e.g.:

optdepends=(
  "bash:    For 'mkthemes.sh' script."
  "perl:    For 'Textures/Trees/convert.pl' and 'Aircraft/Instruments-3d/FG1000/Nasal/MFDPages/createpgs.pl'."
  "python:  For instruments panel of 'c172p' aircraft."
)

It can be argued that python can be a necessary dependency in order to use all aircrafts provided in this data package.

download often interrupts for me for this big file, and the way you download it no continuation of partial download is possible:

Maybe add perl, python and bash as optional dependencies?
namcap tells me:

@Karlamon I've re-downloaded the data files and confirmed the checksum in the PKGBUILD is correct. My guess is that you've got a corrupted download, please delete the file and try again.

Unable to build package for 2020.3.8, as I'm getting a "One or more files did not pass the validity check" error.

The URL is correct and works for me. Perhaps it was some temporary SourceForge problem.
