[1] 4413 segmentation fault (core dumped) flowblade

Your package is broken with a certain dependency like flowblade-git

Launch script dir: /usr/sbin
Running from filesystem...
MLT found, version: 6.2.0
Failed to import module to launch Flowblade!
ERROR: No module named app
Installation was assumed to be at: /usr/sbin/Flowblade

sxe commented on 2016-03-04 09:06

I agree. Done

thirtythreeforty commented on 2016-03-04 01:58

As of v1.6.0, I think there should be an optional dependency on the gmic package, because the Tools > G'MIC Effects menu complains about the lack of /usr/bin/gmic.

OK, I'm probably missing something here but:
1. this package doesn't work at all for me, I get this error at startup (after I edit "flowblade" to actually display the backtrace instead of hiding it and displaying only the text error)
Traceback (most recent call last):
File "./flowblade", line 65, in <module>
import app
File "/usr/share/pyshared/Flowblade/", line 42, in <module>
import audiowaveform
File "/usr/share/pyshared/Flowblade/", line 41, in <module>
import updater
File "/usr/share/pyshared/Flowblade/", line 29, in <module>
import clipeffectseditor
File "/usr/share/pyshared/Flowblade/", line 30, in <module>
import dnd
File "/usr/share/pyshared/Flowblade/", line 43, in <module>
MEDIA_FILES_DND_TARGET ='media_file', Gtk.TargetFlags.SAME_APP, 0)
AttributeError: type object 'TargetEntry' has no attribute 'new'

2. I don't really understand what's up with the custom download link. I changed the PKGBUILD file (in an effort to make sure that I'm running the right version here trying to fix error #1) in 5 minutes to use the official repository location for downloading the code:
diff --git a/PKGBUILD b/PKGBUILD
index 06a5e5e..120bfbd 100644
@@ -1,8 +1,8 @@
# Maintainer: sxe <>

pkgdesc="a multitrack non-linear video editor for Linux"
@@ -13,12 +13,12 @@ provides=('flowblade')

package() {
#cd $srcdir/$pkgname-$pkgver/$pkgname-trunk
- cd $srcdir/$pkgname-$pkgver
+ cd $srcdir/$pkgname-$pkgver/flowblade-trunk
python2 install --root=$pkgdir/ --install-lib=/usr/share/pyshared --optimize=1

NOTE: that changes the package version from 1.2.0 to 1.2, which makes sense because there is no flowblade 1.2.0, there is only a 1.2 (i.e. the flowblade releases do not use a x.y.z format but a x.y one)

Anyway... any idea about my error at #1? Googling a bit it seems that "" is GTK+3 API and as far as I can tell I only have GTK+2 on this system and this package dependecies doesn't seem to require GTK+3. Then again, the FlowBlade official changelog says that the move to GTK+3 happened after 1.2 (a big point of the upcoming 1.4 release) so no idea what's going on here.

Thanks for any help!

sxe commented on 2015-07-22 09:37

ok, updated again, back to dropbox.

cube95 commented on 2015-05-07 16:25

I think the releases are these.

You can also go with tags, instead of branches. I really don't know the difference, i didn't tested.

sxe commented on 2015-05-07 08:28

I have fixed the Upstream URL but i will keep the source code location for this package how it is.

I made a new package to respect the naming convention: and furthermore gets the code from git repository.

Until i know if there will be releases in tar.gz form i will keep this package.
If git will be the only way to get it in the future this package will be marked obsolete.

Thx for the info Anonymous.

Fixed, thx IwfY.

IwfY commented on 2015-04-23 20:25

python2-dbus is missing as a dependency.

osc commented on 2015-03-22 18:29

0.18 is out.

sxe commented on 2015-03-10 12:24

Updated it. I have no idea why it suddenly works but i will not complain. ;)

fho commented on 2015-03-10 11:08

PKGBUILD for current (0.16) version can be found here:

Gorbag commented on 2015-01-03 16:59

That is the same link that osc has posted, only without "?dl=1". I saw the link of flowblade-0.14.0 in the PKGBUILD is although a dropbox file without the sign above and so i tried it. Then i changed the "pkgver" and the "source=" link in the PGKBUILD to the new version.

sxe commented on 2015-01-03 12:49

Hi Gorbag,
where did you find that link?

Gorbag commented on 2015-01-03 11:19

I used this link '' in the PGKBUILD and it download the file and build the package without problems.

sxe commented on 2014-12-05 14:58

I already tried that link, but it does not work.
The PKGBUILD always downloads the html of that page.

osc commented on 2014-12-05 14:23

here is the new address for this version:

you can find the instructions here:

sxe commented on 2014-12-04 20:58

thx, i already tried to update the PKGBUILD. Sadly it cannot download the latest dropbox file. I will keep trying.

osc commented on 2014-12-04 18:51

version 0.16 is out.

orschiro commented on 2014-08-27 09:26

Welcome. Thanks for updating the package straight away!

sxe commented on 2014-08-27 07:48

Well, i guess we have to switch then.
I have added the new version.

Thanks for keeping me up to date.

orschiro commented on 2014-08-27 06:25

Finally received a response:

"The reason 0.14 is distributed via Dropbox is that Google Code no longer allows adding files for download."

So what to do about it now?

sxe commented on 2014-06-22 19:58

orschiro commented on 2014-06-22 18:59

I asked for the reasons to host on Dropbox in their tracker:

sxe commented on 2014-06-22 08:42

Well, there is no package on the official google code page right now. The only package available is hosted on dropbox what looks kind of fishy to me. I will wait until an official package is availabe.

Glinx commented on 2014-01-17 07:32

Thank you boenki, makepkg -si worked.

boenki commented on 2014-01-16 21:01

*Make sure base-devel is installed: pacman -S base-devel
*makepkg -si will build, install dependencies and install the programm.
*Consult the wiki for more information:

Glinx commented on 2014-01-16 17:58

Make a pkg file to install with, i.e. sudo pacman -U flowblade.pkg.tar.xz

sxe commented on 2014-01-16 17:08

What are you trying to do?

Glinx commented on 2014-01-16 16:30

Im not getting a pkg file to install with makepkg -S pkgbuild. What am I missing?

fvsc commented on 2013-10-01 09:23

It works now.
I removed it and installed it back and O wonder it works.

fvsc commented on 2013-09-29 10:05

I have the same problem, both versions crash at starup with segmentation fault.

I use a 64 bit system.

sxe commented on 2013-09-16 18:24

Nop, works for me. Try to remove the config directory.

osc commented on 2013-09-16 17:14

both this and the hg versions crash at start up.

Mentat commented on 2013-06-16 18:17

sxe, great!
just switch, install it and it seem to works like a charm.
I'll give you feedback if necessary.
Thank you very much for having make this build.

sxe commented on 2013-06-16 15:49

Mentat commented on 2013-06-16 13:28

jsteel commented on 2013-04-23 21:05

python2-imaging is a dependency (otherwise ERROR: No module named PIL).

sxe commented on 2013-04-14 08:14

thanks, fixed

samuellittley commented on 2012-06-17 17:44

NB. I've edited the patch in my previous commit to put all of the tabs inside scrollwindows, so nothing overlaps any more.

samuellittley commented on 2012-06-17 16:48

If you want to use it without the screen size requirement, try applying the patch below to the source before running You might need to alter the patch so that the file paths are correct, I ran it from inside $srcdir. I've managed to make flowblade open on my 1366x768 machine, looks to be working alright except for a little bit of overlap on the render tab. Unfortunately I have no video files to fully test with.

sxe commented on 2012-06-12 10:43

I have no idea, you should ask this to the developer i think.

lobisquit commented on 2012-06-12 10:26

The program gives me this error: "Minimum screen dimensions for this application are 1152 x 864. Your screen dimensions are 1366 x 768"
Is there any way to solve this?
