Seems upstream has some kind of useragent sniffing in place, the tarball needs to be downloaded manually and placed in the same directory with the PKGBUILD to build this otherwise it throws a 403 Forbidden response.

perhaps munging the DLAGENTS array in /etc/makepkg.conf to set a legit useragent for curl will work, looking at the manpage, fudging the curl command to use -A "$some_real_browsers_useragent_string_here" with the quotes is adequate to bypass the 403 failure.

Yes, a simple
curl -A "Firefox" http://martin.gleeson.com/fly/dist/fly-2.0.1.tar.gz -o fly-2.0.1.tar.gz
whould suffice, but I don't know if that can be done from within the PKGBUILD.
