PSA: I've started hosting this as a prebuilt package in my repository for those that want to install it using pacman without messing around with building from the AUR.

@elaich I rebuilt this on the 27th using and updated clean chroot and it built fine and runs on my system using the version of everything seen in arch repos + my repository (Python 3.9.6, gobject-instrospection 1.68.0, etc.). Ar you sure the rest of your system was up to date when you built this? (You can also try the prebuilt version from my repos).

I intend to move this to [community] relatively soon, but it might be a couple weeks yet in the process.

@elaich

gobject-introspection might be outdated / incompatible with that Python version.

Just a guess though.

I get this error when trying to install this package: ModuleNotFoundError: No module named 'giscanner._giscanner'

My python version is Python 3.9.6.

Anyone experiencing this?

@SajeOne

That's entirely up to the maintainer.

I don't have any opinion on that front I was simply answering your question as to whether the package can be built without Nautilus.

SajeOne commented on 2021-04-06 23:40

@Dies If it's optional why not have the user include it if they want it? Instead of making everyone who doesn't need nautilus support modify the pkgbuild.

Dies commented on 2021-04-06 18:38

@SajeOne

No. Nautilus, Nemo and Thunar are optional dependencies.

You only need their libraries of you want to build the extensions.

Edit the pkgbuild.

SajeOne commented on 2021-04-01 23:12

Does nautilus really need to be a make dependency? Now I have to pull all of gnome down just to build.

Please avoid installing into /usr/libexec directory. Most simple way is to use arch-meson preconfiguration like this:

arch-meson "$pkgname-$pkgver" build
ninja -C build

@schaetzc I don't know where that came from, but it's probably an artifact of initial attempts to build this when it was crashing like crazy. I'll fix that.

Thank you for maintaining this AUR package. I'm a bit surprised that the build options are set to --buildtype=debugoptimized and not --buildtype=release. Is this intentional? I thought AUR packages were aimed at end users just wanting to use the application. Therefore a debuggable binary doesn't seem necessary.
