I am not sure if the project license is SPDX-compliant:

Looks like I should be using custom:FreeCalypso-Public-Domain or something like that, in accordance with https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/PKGBUILD#license.

Can you install (or symlink) all the executables from /opt/freecalypso/bin/ into /usr/bin/, please?

You need to make the license identifier SPDX-compliant: 

freecalypso-usbser-tools E: custom is not a valid SPDX license identifier. See https://spdx.org/licenses/ for valid identifiers, or prefix the identifier with 'LicenseRef-', if it is custom.
