For those having issues launching fusion-icon because of a wrong library, libcompizconfig must be recompiled and everything will work.

@korrode: So I've re-built the entire Compiz (compiz-mate) stack with protobuf from the repositories in the makedepends for almost all the packages and it's all working again. A bit extreme, but it worked.

Just FMI, did anyone tried or managed to get this work with this[1] Compiz 0.9 package? [1] https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/compiz/

@korrode: I tried a re-boot, re-build of the package and a reboot of the system before downgrading protobuf and it didn't work.

I tried, did not help. Same problem.

@clfarron4: Um, before downgrading protobuf, did you try simply re-building this package?

With the update to protobuf to 2.6.0-2, I get the following error when I run fusion-icon: claire ~ % fusion-icon Traceback (most recent call last): File "/usr/bin/fusion-icon", line 63, in <module> from FusionIcon.interface import choose_interface File "/usr/lib/python2.7/site-packages/FusionIcon/interface.py", line 22, in <module> from util import env File "/usr/lib/python2.7/site-packages/FusionIcon/util.py", line 23, in <module> import os, compizconfig, ConfigParser, time ImportError: libprotobuf.so.8: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory Downgrading to protobuf 2.5.0-4 fixed the issue.

protobuf should be added as dependency

Send it to AUR-general and request a merge into the original fusion-icon.

No, this needs to be ignored. Can I send an email asking for it to be deleted?
