Last version of gazebo fixes newer boost dependencies and, supposedly, OGRE.

However, whenever I try to run it, the following happens:

[Err] [] Ogre Error:ItemIdentityException: Can not find codec for 'png' image format. Supported formats are: dds ktx pkm. in Codec::getCodec at /build/ogre/src/ogre-1.11.1/OgreMain/src/OgreCodec.cpp (line 66)

I have checked on google and the same problem is reported here:

It says to modify a plugins.cfg as new version of Ogre needs explicit activation of the png images plugin.

Although I found the plugins.cfg file for the general Ogre installation, I could not find the gazebo one.

Any clues?

Best Regards.

for the same problems with Ogre and boost, also the installation of ros-melodic-gazebo-ros goes nuts.

I have installed and test-run (just roscore for now) ROS-MELODIC AND GAZEBO by keeping the old downgrades

Ogre: ogre-1.10.10-3-x86_64.pkg.tar.xz boost: boost-1.66.0-3-x86_64.pkg.tar.xz boost-libs: boost-libs-1.66.0-3-x86_64.pkg.tar.xz

and also downgrading

gdbm to gdbm-1.14.1-1-x86_64.pkg.tar.xz

Yep, libreoffice needs newer boost.

Best regards

@greboide It does compile, but doesn't run!!

greboide commented on 2018-07-22 17:22

i was able to compile with this PKGBUILD: ive used patchs from here: but i did not tested it to see if it is working...

@LazyLucretia comment "patch -Np2 -i "${srcdir}/ogre-1.10.patch" in PKGBUILD

Same here, I have downgraded boost as indicated by @nicolino as a temporary fix. An annoying side effect is that libre office now crashes on startup.

A proper fix would be really appreciated!

@LazyLucretia I am having the same issue. Still waiting for a proper fix

@rochus I tried your patch. Unfortunately, it did not work for me. I get this error when I try to build:

@LazyLucretia, the compilation errors are due to boost 1.67. Upstream gazebo already fixed these issues in their master branch. You can find my patch in which I backported the relevant changes for the AUR package here:

@nicolino Your suggested workaround indeed lets gazebo build. However, I (probably like many other robotics researcher) was trying to install the ros-melodic-desktop-full package which includes gazebo. Unfortunately, downgrading ogre, boost and boost-libs breaks dependencies for ros-melodic-diff-drive-controller which is also a part of ros-melodic-desktop-full package.
