@FabioLolix

one issue is the missing dependency autogen, which did not cause a fail in my build environment, because I accidentally masked it.

One test (c-c++-common/cpp/has-include-1.c) has been reported upstream as giving spurious test failures[1]. I'll ignore it until the proposed patch is merged.

And the two other tests were green on my run with gdb 17.2, but arch updated in the meantime to gdb18.1 - which is what you used. So I'll have a look at them before I release a new version.

Renaming it to gcc17-snapshot would be an improvement

I'm not familiar with this naming suffix. Is this documented somewhere?

Thanks for the report, I'll have a look why my builds worked fine in chroot and your's not.

The package fails in check() for me both with devtools and makepkg (devtools log https://github.com/FabioLolix/buildlogs/commit/3c0890bf788966e0c1045719b5672381b230ee29)

Hi Fabio,

the main difference is that gcc17 is meant to be installed alongside the normal system GCC, which is why it's following the $package$mainversionnumber scheme of ArchLinux in naming. It's also limited to the C/C++ parts.

gcc-snapshot on the other hand conflicts and replaces the system gcc compiler toolchain completely.

Since I need to test software with gcc17, I thought others might have the same need and wanted to provide a package for this, without having to replace the whole system compiler.

The description already calls it a "development snapshot" and the version includes the snapshot date, so I'm not quite sure how this could be read as a final release.

If you have a recommendation for making that distinction clearer in the package metadata, I'm happy to adjust it.

Hi, what is the difference with https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/gcc-snapshot ? This is passing as a fake stable version
