The Arch Wiki states that unlike other languages, binary java packages should not be named with "-bin". Also source is not practical to compile for Arch Linux, the process used by the author directly outputs the final .deb package, so my PKGBUILD just takes the relevant files from it.

This package should be named with the -bin suffix, as sources are available.

@derivator I did not encouter your problem, did you also try to follow https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/Java_Runtime_Environment_fonts?

Text in the library explorer is unreadable for me.
https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/Java#Illegible_fonts didn't help.
Any ideas?

Upstream keeps changing how this is distributed. It's getting harder and harder to make a minimal install that doesn't include its own JVM and I'm just not interested in fighting that any more.
If you want to use the latest GCS, I recommend just downloading the tar from the website and running it from your home directory.
