FYI gstreamer0.10 will soon be dropped from the official repository. And genymotion still works when uninstalling gstreamer0.10 & gstreamer0.10-base.

shadofren commented on 2016-12-18 11:28

The installation process through pamac encounters problem. The sha512sums of genymotion-player.desktop file failed during checking. Is there any fix currently?

I had to re install it cause it didnt upgrade. It works fine

syncrtl64 commented on 2016-11-04 06:37

Removed and and I completely booted a virtual image(that 7.0.0 preview) successfully. Please let me know if any error still occurs. Remember that this happens because of other packages, we just try to circumvent the current situation by trying to delete files(not the optimum way of doing things).

kszonek commented on 2016-11-03 22:17

to fix:
"genymotion: symbol lookup error: /usr/lib/ undefined symbol: xcb_wait_for_reply64"

i went with:
$ sudo mv /opt/genymotion/ /opt/genymotion/

but my virtual device is shuting down with error:
Nov 3 23:12:44 [Genymotion Player] [Fatal] Could not initialize GLX

EDIT: I reinstalled mesa-libgl and now having same error as farwayer
"genymotion: symbol lookup error: /usr/lib/ undefined symbol: drmGetDevice"

$ sudo mv /opt/genymotion/ /opt/genymotion/
seems to do the trick

farwayer commented on 2016-11-03 21:55

genymotion: symbol lookup error: /usr/lib/ undefined symbol: xcb_wait_for_reply64

After removing
genymotion: symbol lookup error: /usr/lib/ undefined symbol: drmGetDevice

Rmoving fixed the problem finally.

Fixed in the latest build

martin.mauch commented on 2016-11-03 11:08

Another solution that does not require downgrading mesa is to delete/move

sudo mv /opt/genymotion/ /tmp

Taken from here:

martin.mauch commented on 2016-11-03 10:45

Another option for downgrading mesa is to use the downgrader AUR

pacaur -S downgrader
downgrader mesa

The downgrader command will ask you for a version, choose the latest 12.x version here.

levinit commented on 2016-11-01 02:59

please downgrading mesa version(from 13-->12.0.3-3)

1. cd /var/cache/pacman/pkg
2. sudo pacman -U mesa-12.0.3-3-x86_64.pkg.tar.xz

if you had clean pkgs cache,you can get mesa-12.0.3-3 from here-->

or visit to find the mesa pkgs

CFP commented on 2016-10-31 10:11

Same issue here.

Until we find a real solution, downgrading mesa (13.0.0rc2-2 => 12.0.3-3) will genymotion make work again.

@Severus_Tux I usually have that problem while something else took focus on the audio sink or whatever, are you playing music/youtube/anything while starting genymotion? Maybe that's the problem. If not, try to start genymotion from console and see if anything comes up!

Severus_Tux commented on 2016-10-03 03:59

Fast fix for error: symbol lookup error: /usr/lib/ undefined symbol: FcWeightFromOpenType.
You may copy to /opt/genymotion/ from, for example debian jessie, and make symbolic link on it: ->

lmrodrigues commented on 2016-08-20 01:07

Hi guys,

Since the last change by @syncrtl64 on the PKGBUILD file, everything looks right!

Thanks everyone by the help :-)

ahmetilgin commented on 2016-08-18 15:08

Try this...

gcmartins93 commented on 2016-08-18 08:45

Hi guys,

Looks like the download url has changed, that's why you were having the sha512sum trouble. In order to fix that, you must change the PKGBUILD to access the new download link. The new source should be defined as follow: "$pkgver/$pkgname-${pkgver}-linux_$_ARCH.bin".

Hope this helps!

jgrosse commented on 2016-08-18 07:11

@lmrodrigues @shahinism

There is a problem with the file

$ wget
$ head genymotion-2.7.2-linux_x64.bin

<!DOCTYPE html>
<html lang="en-US" prefix="og: fb:">

It looks like going to this link redirects to which only proposes a download link for Ubuntu.

shahinism commented on 2016-08-18 05:43

@lmrodrigues It seems like you have a problem in your download! Downloaded `.bin` file contains HTML tag at it's first line. Try downloading the package directly and then run that `makepkg` command.

lmrodrigues commented on 2016-08-17 02:33

I found some troubles when trying to install genymotion.

I have received an error from sha512sum test on file `genymotion-2.7.2-linux_x64.bin`. I manually edited PKGBUILD with the sha512sum result of the file, and tryed the `$ makepkg -sri` command, then, I have received the error:

==> Starting package()...
./genymotion-2.7.2-linux_x64.bin: line 2: syntax error near unexpected token `newline'
./genymotion-2.7.2-linux_x64.bin: line 2: `<!DOCTYPE html>'
==> ERROR: A failure occurred in package().

Someone can help me?

jtojnar commented on 2016-08-11 12:18

Seems to also work with qca-qt5 instead of qca-qt4. Can someone verify this?

shahinism commented on 2016-08-08 10:19

It looks like to be an upstream bug. It just happens while downloading. I tried to manually download the ova file (from log file) and copied it to ~/.Genymotion/Genymotion/ova as suggested here:
And it worked.

Edit: Adding a new device to genymotion works perfectly as described above. But machine (I tried two, genymotion_vbox86p_6.0_160609_160125.ova, genymotion_vbox86p_4.2.2_160609_155551.ova) can not be executed correctly. Genymotion starts the machine, but can't display it's window. I tried some available older versions (2.7.0, 2.7.1), the problem is available on both of them as well.

Severus_Tux commented on 2016-08-05 12:46

maeyan commented on 2016-08-03 00:03

Is anyone else getting this error when downloading virtual devices? To replicate:

1. Open genymotion
2. Click add
3. Select any device -> next -> next
4. Downloading starts. When it gets to ~3-5%, the application crashes

The console output reads:

I can confirm this doesn't have anything to do with mesa-git, as I've already tried the official mesa package too and the problem remains, even the same warning message about the 'Unrecognized OpenGL version'.

When I start the machine directly from virtualbox, I get the following output:

Androm commented on 2016-07-21 17:34

Same issue as @BasT and @longboardtard; but I am using mesa and lib32-mesa (not the git version). Also I tried to remove the libraries and use system ones with LD_PRELOAD='[...]' to boot genymotion: same error. I use xf86-video-ati (radeon) driver. I send additionally a ticket to the Genymotion support.

longboardtard commented on 2016-07-21 15:10

I second BasT, I'm having the exact same problem as he is. I also use mesa-git.

The program starts, but when I try to load a guest system the program freezes at "Starting virtual device..."

Log doesn't contain any errors. However:

[Genymotion Player] [Warning] Unrecognized OpenGL version

Is this a conflict between the program's and system libraries? I'm using the mesa-git driver.

This problem can also be fixed by using system fontconfig, harfbuzz and xkbcommon.
Just rm and in /opt/genymotion and install required packages using pacman. It will work.

The problem can be fix by either downgradinig pango to 1.36.8 , or extracting old version of pango and use LD_LIBRARY_PATH to launch genymotion.

@SuperIce97 it's better for genymotion guys to know about, because there was no such behaviour in prev. versions

added gstreamer0.10 and gstreamer0.10-base dependencies

SuperIce97 commented on 2016-01-04 21:35

@dront78 I will not file the bug on the genymotion forums because it is not a genymotion bug, simply an incompatibility between Qt5.4 (used by genymotion) and Qt5.5 (used by Arch), which is why the genymotion installer ships with the Qt5.4 libraries. The PKGBUILD for this package was removing those libraries which was causing the problems with the SQL and "File Transfer in Progress" glitches. The package maintainer has removed those rm lines from the PKGBUILD and Genymotion runs without anymore bugs when using the latest PKGBUILD.

SuperIce97 commented on 2016-01-02 05:56

Can anybody figure out why the "File transfer in progress" glitch is happening? It has to do something with the packaging because if you remove the line in the PKGBUILD that deletes the libQt folder it doesn't have that glitch. There might be some kind of incompatibility between the Qt5 that Genymotion uses and the version arch uses.

After yesterdays' system update and this new version I have a huge memory leakage when I start virtual device created in previous version.

It opens and tried to load - I get the message "file trasfer in progress", virtual device starts loading, then it show starting screen then it restarts while constantly showing message "File transfer in progress". It does this in loop.

farwayer commented on 2015-12-12 10:34

>> Simply remove that file and genymotion will launch (it'll just use the system's QT5 library instead).

No, it will not use system system library:

Dec 12 12:59:19 [Genymotion] [Warning] QSqlDatabase: QSQLITE driver not loaded
Dec 12 12:59:19 [Genymotion] [Warning] QSqlDatabase: available drivers:

Dec 12 12:59:19 [Genymotion] [Warning] [Stats] SQLite error: QSqlError("", "Driver not loaded", "Driver not loaded")

Correct way is to make symbolic link to system sqldrivers directory.
I replaced some old dependencies with new (Qt5) and removed some build in libraries (genymotion is using system libs now).

Attempting to build in a chroot environment errors with:
chmod: changing permissions of 'genymotion-2.5.2_x64.bin': Read-only file system

Because it's bind-mounted within the chroot scripts (i.e. devtools)

The .bin file is a bash script with a binary tarfile at the bottom of it. (You can vi the file to see this.)

A great workaround then is to remove the chmod line, and change add bash to the next line, so it becomes:

yes | bash ./$pkgname-${pkgver}_$_ARCH.bin -d $pkgdir/opt

Ah, and also you should put 'license=("custom")' in the PKGBUILD. namcap doesn't know about 'UNKNOWN' :-)

ackalker commented on 2014-02-02 18:29

@katta Sorry for the long delay, thenks for putting in the changes :-)

The license is located here (I've formatted the URL so you can put it in sources array): "license.html::"

Perhaps it is a good idea to ask the people at Genymotion if they can ship their license as a text file with the installer.

katta commented on 2014-01-22 12:33

Yes, of course. As explained in .install file you can add them to' virtualbox.conf file in /etc/modules.d for automatic loading

# echo -e "vboxdrv\nvboxnetflt\nvboxnetadp\nvboxpci" > /etc/modules-load.d/virtualbox.conf

Thank you for suggestion, I'm working to fix that problems. But I cant find the licence. Any suggestion about?

gadelat commented on 2014-01-22 12:19

If some of you have trouble running genymotion because it outputs error "Unable to load VirtualBox engine.", you need to load kernel modules vboxnetadp and boxnetflt:

:# modprobe -a vboxdrv vboxnetadp vboxnetflt

ackalker commented on 2014-01-14 22:51

@katta: Thanks for packaging this :-)
Some small nits:
- namcap gives several warnings and errors. I've stripped out those about uninstalled dependencies, insecure RPATHs and files in /opt), marked the ones which I think are pretty serious (e.g. security-wise) with <...>:

$ namcap PKGBUILD
PKGBUILD (genymotion) W: Variable license is not an array.
PKGBUILD (genymotion) W: Description should not contain the package name.

$ namcap genymotion-2.0.3-2-x86_64.pkg.tar.xz
genymotion W: ELF file ('opt/genymotion/tools/adb') has executable stack.
genymotion E: UNKNOWN is not a common license (it's not in /usr/share/licenses/common/)
genymotion W: Description should not contain the package name.
<lots of errors like the following:>
genymotion E: File (opt/genymotion/ is owned by 1004:xbmc
<the above could be pretty serious: user with UID 1004/GID 1004 (which in my case happens to be 'xbmc') could seriously mess up (move/overwrite/delete) Genymotion's files. Probably best to fix those with `chown root:root <files>`>
genymotion E: Dependency openssl098 detected and not included (libraries ['usr/lib/'] needed in files ['opt/genymotion/'])
genymotion E: Dependency ffmpeg-compat detected and not included (libraries ['usr/lib/ffmpeg-compat/', 'usr/lib/ffmpeg-compat/'] needed in files ['opt/genymotion/', 'opt/genymotion/player'])
genymotion E: Dependency qca detected and not included (libraries ['usr/lib/'] needed in files ['opt/genymotion/player', 'opt/genymotion/genymotion', 'opt/genymotion/crypto/'])

Morale: please _always_ run namcap on your PKGBUILD and a package you build from it (I do on all the packages I maintain :-) ).
Even if you think you've done everything perfectly, there's always a chance that you missed something.

My mistake: I accidentally deleted the line "rm opt/genymotion/libQt*" in PKGBUILD. Fixed.

felixonmars commented on 2013-12-23 23:24

Okay I seem to have found the problem.

I use qtcurve, which requires libQtDBus, but 4.8.4 version of that lib was not shipped with genymotion 2.0.3, which causes it to load the one in system path. So the version doesn't match and it won't work.

I've tried to remove /opt/genymotion/libQt*, and it works perfectly. If it works also for everyone else (even doesn't have the problem), I'll suggest to implement this in package, as the shipped slightly out-of-date Qt is not needed any way.
