@dreieck also this gimp plugin that you reported has no issues for me.

The downloaded source is an HTML file, not a ZIP file.

And so, (correctly) fails the sha256 check sum test:

    gimp-plugin-scale-layer-to-image-size-1.4.zip ... FAILED
==> ERROR: One or more files did not pass the validity check!

The $url mentions the following download URL: https://www.deviantart.com/download/301972855/scale_layer_to_image_size_by_slybug-d4zsbqv.zip?token=86fec9994d069eb61d11df3140bafc6b66c2e65e&ts=1526559779, which works for me when I download it manually via the browser and adjust the checksum.
