Why does the naming convention seem backward - git-gitlab in comparison to gimp-git, etc...

There's an extra trailing comma in the makedepends line. After fixing that: ==> Starting prepare()... # gopkg.in/libgit2/git2go.v22 could not determine kind of name for C.GIT_CHECKOUT_SAFE_CREATE ==> ERROR: A failure occurred in prepare(). Aborting...
