Current Version: 2.4.0
To get the latest version anyway replace the following values in the PKGBUILD:
pkgver: 2.4.0
pkgrel: 0
md5sums=('8bcf9ce074a7e191cf3070724dc7e525')
Warning: the md5sum ist self-calculated, because I couldn't find any on the page

Fixed in the latest version. The problem was makepkg stripping things it should not have.

Starting /opt/Gitter/linux64/Gitter gives me an empty nwjs project unfortunately. Thanks for this package btw.

This package was moved to
gitter-binfor binaries provided by gitlab. Until this package gets no updates, use the mentioned one. I'm working on a PKGBUILD to build it from source rather than using prebuilts. Please consider some time before submitting a request.
