Same problem here, despite libtool and automake being up to date. However, the error is generated by gmime's autogen.sh, so I'm not sure if the problem is in PKGBUILD, or needs to be reported upstream. If I copy the top of autogen through the test for autmake to a new file, it does NOT fail, so I also wonder if makepkg does something to the environment.

I've got the same problem as @micwoj92. Anything we can do?

micwoj92 commented on 2025-02-26 21:58 (UTC)

Doesn't build anymore:

You must have libtool >= 1.4 installed to compile GMime.
Install the appropriate package for your distribution,
or get the source tarball at http://ftp.gnu.org/gnu/libtool/

You must have automake >= 1.9.x installed to compile GMime.
Install the appropriate package for your distribution,
or get the source tarball at http://ftp.gnu.org/gnu/automake/
==> ERROR: A failure occurred in prepare().
    Aborting...

Installed are libtool 2.5.4.1-baa1-dirty and automake 1.17.

Thanks for reporting, didn't realise there was a gmime3 in the repos. I've reverted to v2 and bumped epoch for those who already upgraded.

EDIT: also the latest commit should say "gmime" not "gnvim-git", obviously a typo

Get same error trying to run update today:

conflicting files:
- gmime: /usr/include/gmime-3.0/gmime/gmime-application-pkcs7-mime.h already exists in filesystem (owned by gmime3)

This should have a 'conflicts' array with 'gmime3': https://archlinux.org/packages/extra/x86_64/gmime3/
