@indianahorst: To be honest I haven't used GMPC in a while, but I just installed it and the tag editor works for me. I could reproduce your problem by using a relative path for the music directory, though. Have you tried setting the full path for your music directory? In Music > Preferences > Connection (Use '/home/user/Music' instead of '~/Music')

Doesn't work. When trying to add a file to the song queue in GMPC, I just get a red error "Tag Edit: File does not exist <path to file>". Of course the file is there. I have read FAQ at http://gmpc.wikia.com/wiki/GMPC_PLUGIN_TAGEDIT (especially Question 2 "I queued a song to the Tag editor, but the editor shows me only empty tags. What's wrong?"), but there is no entry "Tag Edit" in the preferences window. The "plugins" in the preferences contain Tag Edit, but there is no option to set a path.

Orphaned package, I started to use XMMS2 (with Etude Music Player) instead of MPD.
