Also, I see that the upstream project already has a newer beta version which is ported to gtk3.

I think this package can be safely deleted, @PhotonX. As you mentioned, it's only a one-commit patch fork. It is not developed since 2 years ago, and is already 17 commits behind the original upstream version.

There are also a few gtk2 (opt)depends that only this package links to, which in turn can be deleted as well if this gets dropped from AUR.

Thanks, done!

Nevertheless, while you're attending to this package, please kindly declare a local filename based on $pkgname-$pkgver for the downloaded source, otherwise the default name like v1.1.16.tar.gz is too generic and might clash with other packages if SRCDEST is set.

I don't use this package. I just came here because this was an optional dependent of legacy and unmaintained (and hard to maintain) gstreamer0.10 packages.

Updated, thanks for the hint!

I'm wondering whether this package is still necessary, actually:

  1. The patch it applies to implement the "shimmer" changes hasn't been updated since 2015.
  2. The "shimmer" fork at Github is only one commit ahead (and many commits behind) the main repo.

To be honest, I'm not using GMusicbrowser that intensively and I cannot tell for sure whether the patch makes a difference or not. What do you think?

Thank you. I'm seeing now that the current upstream URL is dead (404). Could you please set it to a working site, or the GitHub repo? Thx in advance.

@MarsSeed: Thanks, done (in a silent update)!

I also suggest, in concert with the previous recommendation, to drop the perl-gstreamer optdepend for gstreamer0.10 backend. As there is already another perl package for using gstreamer 1.x.
