teohhanhui: Thanks for pointing that out. I've added a patch.

teohhanhui commented on 2017-12-03 08:51

Unfortunately the ~/.config/gnome-mpv directory has 600 permissions instead of 755 as it should be.

Edit: It's already fixed in

hobbledehoy899 commented on 2017-10-29 16:58

I reckon that this package should eventually replace GNOME MPlayer.

ainola commented on 2017-06-14 02:53

@TingPing: I'm sold! I'll happily switch away from autotools.

TingPing commented on 2017-06-14 02:44

btw see also `gnome-mpv-git` which uses meson already.

TingPing commented on 2017-06-14 02:39

> As I believe you're involved with upstream, would there be a benefit to switching to Meson right now?

Well Meson is just much faster and more simple. For some numbers gnome-mpv build time: Meson - 1 second, AutoTools (with ./ - 12 seconds.

As for preferred build tool, gnome-mpv is actually a very small codebase and I personally maintain the Meson build files. I would not expect many issues and I will be responsive in fixing them.

ainola commented on 2017-06-14 02:31

TingPing: I considered moving to meson but I abstained; the Github page made it sound like Meson was not the preferred build tool for now.

As I believe you're involved with upstream, would there be a benefit to switching to Meson right now?

I'll remove the intltool dep, thanks for that.

TingPing commented on 2017-06-14 02:16

intltool can be dropped as a build dep. Also might be worth moving to Meson now (need this patch though:

@bsdson: It looks like you don't have binutils installed on your system. Do you have all the necessary base-devel packages installed?

bsdson commented on 2017-06-14 02:00

thanks @ainola!
it works after installing binutils.

@ainola: No I got it working, it was my mistake, I am sorry. The package installed mpv media player along with gnome-mpv player. The gnome-mpv player works just fine but the other one is borderless.

ainola commented on 2017-03-19 23:19

@nim: I sense a larger issue with your installation. If you're certain that this is an issue with the program, please do the following and post the results in an upstream bug report:

Put --msg-level=all=debug in Extra MPV Options in the preferences dialog. Run G_MESSAGES_DEBUG=all gnome-mpv in the terminal, play a video, then copy/paste the output to a bug report along with version/system information.

nim commented on 2017-03-19 22:49

I installed mpv and gnome-mpv but when I launch it there is no menu bar or play/pause and volume buttons. I have kill it every time to close it. It works just fine otherwise.

Edit: It is working fine, it was just my mistake :). Thanks.

reverendpain commented on 2017-03-17 17:03

@indianahorst It's because your mpv (not gnome-mpv) was built against a previous version of FFmpeg that was updated. Just rebuild mpv itself and then gnome-mpv will work again.

ainola commented on 2017-02-13 01:51

@indianahorst. Works fine for me. Are you on 0.24.0-1? Also, it looks like you might have some custom startup stuff going on that no longer applies with an API change.

indianahorst commented on 2017-02-12 11:27

Since the last update yesterday, gnome-mpv doesn't start anymore:

~$ gnome-mpv

Thanks, TingPing, as always. Backported.

TingPing commented on 2017-01-01 21:49

Probably by

Might want to backport that.

forlorn commented on 2017-01-01 21:47

It's fixed already in gnome-mpv-git in AUR.

TingPing commented on 2017-01-01 21:40

Last MPV update caused it, probably should be reported upstream.

je-vv commented on 2017-01-01 21:11

I'm no longer able to see the progress bar (as such, of course I'm unable to select which time I'd like to move to watch). Also, when pausing, and restarting to play, video goes to time 0.

No idea when it got to this state, before it was just fine. Recompiling gnome-mpv didn't help a bit...

Crash after upgrade to ffmpeg 3.2.1-1

ainola commented on 2016-10-20 23:50

@rhabbachi and any others unable to use mpv or gnome-mpv since the upgrade, please see:

I imagine this will be sorted out soon.

rhabbachi commented on 2016-10-20 23:39

Broke for me after the latest netcdf (4.4.1-1) update.

ainola commented on 2016-09-25 05:08

@smekkleya, agreed, and thanks for the kind words. Be sure to spread the love to the person that actually wrote this.

smekkleysa commented on 2016-09-25 01:09

This should be default for gnome deskop!
A lot more stable than vlc and smplayer on gnome-wayland.
Thank you so much.

willemw commented on 2016-09-10 07:11

@ainola: Yes. It is just for cleaning up PKGBUILD and following guidelines. Other packages that provide 'gnome-mpv', not this package, should prevent conflicts.

ainola commented on 2016-09-09 22:59

@willemw, Would this be because gnome-mpv-git recently added a provides() line? I'd like to know why it needs to be removed.

willemw commented on 2016-09-09 15:27

"conflicts=('gnome-mpv-git')" can now be removed.

TingPing commented on 2016-08-17 13:11

> This mpv frontend should be included as gnome-extras.

Would be great to be in the community repo but this isn't an official gnome project.

alive4ever commented on 2016-08-17 09:22

This mpv frontend should be included as gnome-extras. Hopefully a dev/TU comes to adopt this package so that it's available in the official repo.

TingPing commented on 2016-05-20 01:48

The install file can be removed; Pacman has hooks that automatically run these now.

ainola commented on 2016-02-06 21:28

Thanks, @jevv. Don't know why the sum changed (don't see any activity indicating that such a thing happened) but it's updated now.

je-vv commented on 2016-02-06 18:17

wrong sha256?

Did upstream replace the same v0.7 release?

ainola commented on 2016-02-02 13:44

Thanks for letting me know.

TrialnError commented on 2016-02-02 11:44
needs to be adjusted, else it will not build with pacman 5.x
(install= shouldn't be an array)

Edit: How did I get the c into with...

je-vv commented on 2016-01-30 23:48

That did it, :-) Thanks.

ainola commented on 2016-01-30 23:27

Try now: There was a new makedep on appstream-glib.

ainola commented on 2015-05-30 21:31

Thanks for bringing this up, TrialInError. I have no idea what voodoo made it work for me when I first packaged it but I've included a patch for this version.

ainola commented on 2015-05-30 19:57

How odd, this worked just fine when I published it... I'll look into it.

TrialnError commented on 2015-05-30 19:57

OK.. -git version compiles, and is similar from the setup. So propably not a missing dep.
Apparantly an upstream bug, that got fixed. So maybe this commit should be identified and added as patch?

Edit: Maybe this

Maybe it's missing some deps?
