Maybe it can be replaced by my package: https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/mate-search-tool

The man page doesn't mention mlocate but does say: "GNOME Search Tool uses the find, grep, and locate UNIX commands." This AUR package just gives you a way to install gnome-search-tool without having to install nautilus or gnome-desktop. I do not have anything to do with gnome-search-tool upstream, and there is not an entry for it in the Arch Wiki. Maybe I should make one, but I really don't use it very much. I found this documentation for it on help.gnome.org: https://help.gnome.org/users/gnome-search-tool/3.6/gnome-search-tool.html The section about Settings discusses locate.
