ThanosGR: I can confirm the issue. I was painting with overly broad strokes without properly scrutinizing the original subject matter. I've pushed out an updated PKGBUILD that corrects the mistake.

Hi, application settings dialog is failing with error -"FileError: Failed to open file “/usr/share/gnome-shell/extensions/arch-update@RaphaelRochet/prefs.xml”: No such file or directory" Based on PKGBUILD prefs.xml is moved under /usr/share/glib-2.0/schemas/ However JS is not locating the file properly.If i copy the file it seems to work properly

I have installed with makepkg -si

Tamaskan: This isn't how optional dependencies work. This extension is neither built against nor optionally depends upon this package to provide a feature. If you inspect the PKGBUILD for NetworkManager [https://git.archlinux.org/svntogit/packages.git/tree/trunk/PKGBUILD?h=packages/networkmanager] in the core repos you'll see that the optional dependencies are necessary during make and the tool builds against them to provide extra features. These are optional in deployment; however, attempting to use the feature without the dependency present it will often throw errors and cause other strange behaviour. In more intelligently designed software it will recognize the missing library and gracefully degrade, disabling the feature. Absolutely none of these things are true in this case. While this extension allows the user to configure it to use a different utility to check for updates these are not part of Arch Linux nor are they supported by the Arch Linux community. If users want to employ these tools and configure this extension to use them that is entirely at their own peril.

I suggest "checkupdates+aur" as optional dependency. This way the extension can check for AUR updates too.
