To whom it may concern: please do not flag the package out-of-date because it's not working with the latest GNOME release. If the extension is not working, it doesn't mean it's out-of-date. The [latest version released[(https://github.com/GSConnect/gnome-shell-extension-gsconnect/releases/latest) is sometimes lagging behind so this PKGBUILD is strictly up-to-date even if the result is not working. As of GNOME 45, all of the extensions have been broken, please allow the developers time to update their project you like to use in your environment.

Hi, according to https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/PKGBUILD#epoch, if this package has downgraded version number, please add a epoch for it, otherwise pacman will always keep the biggest version number.

I have GSConnect outdated for months and til now I find this package once goes to version 53 then back to version 49. This also makes archlinuxcn repo's auto rebuild failed due to the same reason...

@francoism90 v50 only supports shell version 42, which is not in [extra] yet

This seems the right URL, right?

We don't publish bugfix releases often for old shell versions, but v53 is such a release for shell 3.36 and as such much older code than the previous newest release. extensions.gnome.org only has integer versions, so you should always check that you are picking the correct latest release of GSConnect for the then current GNOME Shell.

Sorry for the upgrade made too early, pushed a new version with the v49 tag

I suppose this should be bumped to v49 instead since that's the version that supports gnome-shell 41 which is currently being used by arch.

The repository has moved to the GSConnect github org: https://github.com/GSConnect/gnome-shell-extension-gsconnect

The PKGBUILD should probably be adjusted to reflect that; but it still works due to the redirect.

@postblue thank you for your work

@esistgut Now that 41(.1) is out, the controversy is not relevant anymore. As mentionned, the v47 PKGBUILD was still available through git versioning, and the package could have been ignored with proprer configuration of the package manager / AUR helper. For the future, I will pay close attention to the release of the packages in the repositories, as I wrongly assumed it would have been done promptly.

What is the point of having a version not compatible with the version of gnome-shell provided in Arch?
