I'd vote in favor of keeping this thing alive and simply pointing it at the new fork!

No need to clutter the AUR even more by keeping a dead project around and then adding a new version... (IMHO)

This project was abandoned by its original author. There is a newly maintained fork here https://gitlab.com/skrewball/openweather

Not sure if you want to update the repo, or if we should create a new gnome-shell-extension-openweather-2-git AUR package.

I know upstream seems to be dead, however this does still seem to work on gnome 41 (mostly).

I was able to get my location working by editing the default location to use my coordinates, then changing the name. ymmv

Also, should gnome-icon-theme be added as an optional dependency?

Hi, As mentioned by Taijian on 2021-01-30, gnome-icon-theme package should be installed if one wants the icons to appears ;-)

Taijian commented on 2021-12-06 15:02 (UTC)

@mschu: Well, it does compile and it can then be enabled. However, the dialogue to add or edit locations seems to be borked for me :(

Also, I sadly think that upstream is well and truely dead at this point, so I'll disown this and move on...

Amending the line in metadata.json

"shell-version": [ "40", "41", "41.1" ],

Makes this extension work with the current gnome-shell.

Unfortunately I'm currently unable to maintain this package, so I'm orphaning it.

Feel free to take up maintaining it.

A Gnome 40 compatible version has been pushed to the gnome40 branch upstream: https://gitlab.com/jenslody/gnome-shell-extension-openweather/-/issues/290#note_572556782.

Please fix the dependencies:

depends=('gnome-shell')
makedepends=('git' 'gnome-common')

Note: Packages in the AUR assume that the base-devel group is installed, i.e. they do not list the group's members as build dependencies explicitly.

Hi there,

I just noticed that the weather icons are broken unless the following package is also installed: community/gnome-icon-theme

Maybe you could add that one as a depends to this package? Thank you!
