If you have a problem during any system update with mutter-performance & gnome-shell-performance, please install mutter & gnome-shell packages from the main repository and do full upgrade first, then build the performance packages later.

If you are using [gnome-unstable] and [extra-testing] repositories, use gnome-shell-performance-unstable

To enable a specific MR in the Merge Requests List, add an line "_merge_requests_to_use+=('<MR number>')" at the end of PKGBUILD. (Because if you edit the line directly you can be able to end up with merge conflict upon updates.)

If you are getting errors like fatal: bad revision '73e8cf32' while building this package, refer to PKGBUILD and see which patches caused this. Then, go to the related URLs, replace the commit hashes. If there are conflicts, comment out the patches.

Please notify me in comment section if this happens.

The optional patches for performance and fixes are by default enabled.

Just noticed 42.5-2 uses git config --global protocol.file.allow always to deal with recent git changes (see this). Although this works, it's not very nice to alter users git config. The bug report recommends using git -c protocol.file.allow=always submodule update instead. You might want to consider this.

@angryfog And it should be fixed in 42.5-2

@angryfog It will be fixed in 43.0-1 which should come in a few days.

Hello, Since I have reinstalled my archlinux, I can't build this package with paru like pikaur. The output of the command can be found here : https://pastebin.com/Cw4btuJD Does someone already have an issue like that? It's not a huge problem to not have this package, but I would like to have the best performance and would be very gratefull if someone could help me. Thanks you!

Upgrading Mutter and GNOME Shell to 43 will require massive upgrades to the entire platform tree. Either you'll be retargeting what the third party repository fcgu is already doing, or you have to wait until Arch completes the process in their repos.

N what about mutter-performance? I don't think dynamic buffering has been merged into 43 yet

<deleted-account> commented on 2022-10-04 12:43 (UTC)

@Axel358 I have no plan to do that. Patches included now are merged/superseded in gnome-43 so there are almost no benefits to upgrade this package without any new patches.

Could we get a version of this package that tracks the current upstream stable version? It's been weeks since gnome-shell 43 hit stable
