Upgrading Mutter and GNOME Shell to 43 will require massive upgrades to the entire platform tree. Either you'll be retargeting what the third party repository fcgu is already doing, or you have to wait until Arch completes the process in their repos.

N what about mutter-performance? I don't think dynamic buffering has been merged into 43 yet
Saltyming commented on 2022-10-04 12:43 (UTC)
@Axel358 I have no plan to do that. Patches included now are merged/superseded in gnome-43 so there are almost no benefits to upgrade this package without any new patches.

Could we get a version of this package that tracks the current upstream stable version? It's been weeks since gnome-shell 43 hit stable

This package, although not fixing my memory leak issues, helped resolve the performance issue I'd been experiencing for AGES since the recent updates to GNOME. Combined with mutter-performance, it really feels like I'm actually using the full capability of my hardware rather than the cheap laptop I'd supposedly upgraded from. All that remains is that pesky memory leak that GNOME is infamous for, I wonder what could be causing it?

This package does not help fixing the animation lag (reported here: https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/gnome-shell/-/issues/3760 )

@phush0 Restart your machine and build the packages again. The packages built successfully in my machine when I updated them.

There is error in tests with latest change. Have to use --nocheck
to install correctly

@x0rzavi Removing mr1862 should fix that but if you remove that, then there's no reason to use this package :) Maybe I shall search more mr patches other than that, but I haven't found it yet.

I'm facing random gnome-shell crash on lock screen. It happens only at times like when you close your laptop lid and open it up, or suspend for long and then wake it up. Cross checked too, that its not something to do with extensions or themes, also everything is fine with the main repo packages. This package works wonders :D but this bug keeps annoying me.

If you are getting errors like
fatal: bad revision '73e8cf32'
while building this package, refer to PKGBUILD and see which patches caused this. Then, go to the related URLs, replace the commit hashes. If there are conflicts, comment out the patches.Please notify me in comment section if this happens.
Note that a
debug
option is disabled in this package.To enable the check() process, set an env:
_enable_check=y
To disable building the docs package, set an env:
_disable_docs=y
If the building process is getting failed on
check()
likegnome-shell/src/st/meson.build:195:2: ERROR: Dependency "libmutter-test-11" not found, tried pkgconfig and cmake
then you might want to do one of these:
0) Unset an env:
_enable_check=y
1) Rebuild
mutter-performance
package with_enable_check=y
env.And try again.
The optional performance patches are by default enabled.

Warning: Before making a report of something broken, make sure it is not caused by an extension or a custom theme!
