This package, although not fixing my memory leak issues, helped resolve the performance issue I'd been experiencing for AGES since the recent updates to GNOME. Combined with mutter-performance, it really feels like I'm actually using the full capability of my hardware rather than the cheap laptop I'd supposedly upgraded from. All that remains is that pesky memory leak that GNOME is infamous for, I wonder what could be causing it?

This package does not help fixing the animation lag (reported here: https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/gnome-shell/-/issues/3760 )

@phush0 Restart your machine and build the packages again. The packages built successfully in my machine when I updated them.

There is error in tests with latest change. Have to use --nocheck
to install correctly

@x0rzavi Removing mr1862 should fix that but if you remove that, then there's no reason to use this package :) Maybe I shall search more mr patches other than that, but I haven't found it yet.

I'm facing random gnome-shell crash on lock screen. It happens only at times like when you close your laptop lid and open it up, or suspend for long and then wake it up. Cross checked too, that its not something to do with extensions or themes, also everything is fine with the main repo packages. This package works wonders :D but this bug keeps annoying me.

Please make sure that you're using commit a5777b0b1143 (1:41.2+17) or newer.
(I messed up with version bumping before as I couldn't test the package in my pc. I hope you acknowledge this situation and manually downgrade the package.)

You should reinstall the package again to downgrade the package correctly now. I accidentally bumped up version in a wrong way.
rhekman commented on 2021-12-19 02:24 (UTC)
Was the version number supposed to be bumped to 42.1?

Wow, after I installed the package and rebooted, I went to the bathroom. Now that I'm back, you've already updated it with the fix! Thanks so much for your excellent work

If you have a problem during any system update with
mutter-performance
&gnome-shell-performance
, please installmutter
&gnome-shell
packages from the main repository and do full upgrade first, then build the performance packages later. If you are using [gnome-unstable] and [extra-testing] repositories, use gnome-shell-performance-unstable
To enable a specific MR in the Merge Requests List, add an line "_merge_requests_to_use+=('<MR number>')" at the end of PKGBUILD. (Because if you edit the line directly you can be able to end up with merge conflict upon updates.)
If you are getting errors like
fatal: bad revision '73e8cf32'
while building this package, refer to PKGBUILD and see which patches caused this. Then, go to the related URLs, replace the commit hashes. If there are conflicts, comment out the patches. Please notify me in comment section if this happens.
The optional patches for performance and fixes are by default enabled.
