I fixed that url problem (thanks stefanwilkens,) but I have to orphan this since original project seems really dead and I don't use Gnome anymore. There are other extensions providing same features and working with recent Gnome versions.

@oboedad55 internal.h is failing verification because the source link was altered.

This is the link to internal.h at the same revision as listed in the PKGBUILD:
http://hg.pidgin.im/pidgin/main/raw-file/35c8682ddee7/libpurple/internal.h

This is the current version of internal.h:
http://hg.pidgin.im/pidgin/main/raw-file/581716bd2b64/libpurple/internal.h

Either way, this plugin no longer works with current gnome. No development since 2010 and no activity on the bugtracker

Mystro256: According to http://svn.gnome.org/svn/gnome-session/trunk/gnome-session/org.gnome.SessionManager.Presence.xml there is no GNOME_OFFLINE status or any other but thoose witch are already used in source.

Necopinus, moted: I currently don't have any PC with gnome-shell installed, but I'll try to install one into VirtualBox. What I can say for sure, plugin still works with status indicator in gnome 3.2 "classic."

What is with these odd conversions?

case PURPLE_STATUS_OFFLINE:
case PURPLE_STATUS_INVISIBLE:
return GNOME_INVISIBLE;
case PURPLE_STATUS_UNAVAILABLE:
case PURPLE_STATUS_AWAY:
case PURPLE_STATUS_EXTENDED_AWAY:
return GNOME_BUSY;
case PURPLE_STATUS_AVAILABLE:
return GNOME_AVAILABLE;
default:
return GNOME_INVISIBLE;

It should be
case PURPLE_STATUS_OFFLINE:
return GNOME_OFFLINE;
case PURPLE_STATUS_INVISIBLE:
return GNOME_INVISIBLE;
case PURPLE_STATUS_UNAVAILABLE:
return GNOME_BUSY;
case PURPLE_STATUS_AWAY:
return GNOME_AWAY;
case PURPLE_STATUS_EXTENDED_AWAY:
return GNOME_IDLE;
case PURPLE_STATUS_AVAILABLE:
return GNOME_AVAILABLE;

or something of the like

I don't think the current version works with gnome-shell 3.2.1. They changed the functionality of the status indicator and moved out the notifications. Currently the plugin does seem to do much of anything for me

@crondog: Maybe. A couple of days ago the plugin started working strangely for me. Changing the shell status menu no longer effects Pidgin's status, and vice-versa (i.e., I can no longer take Pidgin online or offline with the Shell status menu item, nor is Pidgin's online/offline status accurately reflected there). HOWEVER, toggling the status menu's Notifications toggle switch DOES push pidgin from the Available to the Away state, and switching Pidgin between these two states is reflected in the state of the toggle. That said, the Notifications toggle seems to work even when the extension is disabled, which seems weird.

@crondog: Maybe. A couple of days ago the plugin just stopped working for me, and I haven't been able to figure out why yet...

Is anyone else having the issue of the gnome-shell notification not setting to "on" after waking up gnome from sleep with the pidgin-status-to-shell.patch applied? If i compile without the patch notifications is set to "on"...
