No worries @krahser, glad I was able to help :)

@b3nlup Thanks again.
Indeed, I've deleted and started the installation (compilation) again, and it worked. Apologies for taking your time.

@krahser thanks, this should be enough to replicate the issue. I'll do my best to get back to you with an update soon.
In the meantime one thing that pops to my head after seeing build log that you can try is to remove old gnucash-xbt prior to building a new one. Just be sure to backup ~/.local/share/gnucash first or wherever you're storing your gnucash database.

@b3nlup thanks for taking the time.
Here are the links to 2 gists, the commands and the build output.

@krahser: Just to be sure can you post output of following commands?

@b3nlup thanks for pushing the update. I've tried to build the package again, after a full upgrade, but still getting the same error. I'm not sure where else to look to fix it.

@krahser did you upgrade icu after building current gnucash-xbt? In that case such error could happen, otherwise it should work just fine with latest icu. I've just verified that at least latest version (5.8-1) builds and works fine with icu 75.1-1.
Anyways I'm pushing 5.8-1 now, give it a try and let me know if this error still occurs.

Hi @b3nlup, Trying to update the package, I'm getting an error:
In procedure dlopen: file "/usr/lib/libgnucash-guile.so", message "libicui18n.so.74: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory"
Version 75 is installed on the system:
core/icu 75.1-1 (11.2 MiB 40.6 MiB) (Installed)
Would it be possible to update, or should I downgrade icu?

@almalmalm I've seen something similar with this syntax error when I still had some price entries for XBT. Probably it'd be possible and quite easy to manually remove them from xml to make it work if you wish to try it. Although I'm using sqlite backend since forever and it works perfectly fine for me so I guess your solution should be ok too :)
If you decide to manually edit xml file then PLEASE make a backup beforehand.
Best regards!

@b3niup... quick update. I saved the file as sqlite in gnucash-xbt, and opened it in vanilla gnucash... and it worked!
If I save it back to xml in vanilla and try to re-open, it fails just like before.
In any case, sqlite is working now (it seems the only practical difference is that with sqlite the modifications are automatically saved?). Thanks for the help!
