Before you run this game, you need to run Sway with the -D legacy-wl-drm switch. This re-enables a legacy API that XWayland still relies on.
If you use that switch, you’re free to install current versions of sway-git and wlroots-git safely again.

Do not install wlroots-git in a version newer than 0.18.0.r6822.d0da76fb-1. It will break this game.
Likewise, do not install sway-git in a version newer than 1.9.r7235.fa294a9-1.
