When reporting this package as outdated make sure there is indeed a new version for Linux Desktop. You can have a look at the "Dev updates" tag in Release blog for this.

You can also run this command to obtain the version string for the latest chrome version:

$ curl -sSf https://dl.google.com/linux/chrome/deb/dists/stable/main/binary-amd64/Packages | \
     grep -A1 "Package: google-chrome-unstable" | \
     awk '/Version/{print $2}' | \
     cut -d '-' -f1

Do not report updates for ChromeOS, Android or other platforms stable versions as updates here.

Canary? It's not for Linux.

Anyone else finding canary really really slow today?

Don't post a comment about it, flag the package.

✔ NOTE. If the sha512sums don't match, there's a new version. Simply flag the package.

You can check for new Linux releases in: http://googlechromereleases.blogspot.com/search/label/Stable%20updates, or use:

$ curl -sL https://dl.google.com/linux/chrome/rpm/stable/x86_64/repodata/other.xml.gz | gzip -df | tr ' ' '\n' | grep -e name= -e ver= | cut -d '"' -f2 | sed 'N;s/\n/ /'

For new MD5: $ curl -sL https://dl.google.com/linux/chrome/deb/dists/stable/main/binary-amd64/Packages | sed -n '54p'

*OBS!* 32-bit support for Google Chrome Dev Channel has been dropped. Either upgrade to 64-bit, or stick to [extra]/chromium, which will continue to be updated: - http://linux.slashdot.org/story/15/12/01/1524259/google-to-drop-chrome-support-for-32-bit-linux

I haven't had that in a long time, if you mean the one where I think all 4 components, Nvidia/Xorg/KDE/Chrome were involved. E: Might have also been caused by no longer force-enabling GPU acceleration in chrome://flags/: - https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=198817 - http://linux.slashdot.org/story/14/03/04/1926233/google-wont-enable-chrome-video-acceleration-because-of-linux-gpu-bugs - https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/chromium-browser/+bug/1466670

It seems not. In which case it's probably my config or something otherwise someone would have mentioned it by now. After a couple hours, my PC grinds to a halt shortly before Chrome crashing and freeing up several gigs of RAM. I suspect a buggy extension

Try and see. No one's mentioned that yet.
