The final vote. “What should be the pkgdesc of AUR/google-chrome?” With 82 votes:

● "One fast, simple, and secure browser for all your devices (Stable Channel)" - 17 votes (21%)
● "The popular and trusted web browser by Google (Stable Channel)" - 65 votes (79%)

Now, my deciding vote of 49 votes will be cast and the winner is...
, I’m kidding, I’m kidding. Pkgdesc changed. ^^

✔ NOTE. If the sha512sums don't match, there's a new version. Simply flag the package.

You can check for new Linux releases in:, or use:

$ curl -sL | gzip -df | tr ' ' '\n' | grep -e name= -e ver= | cut -d '"' -f2 | sed 'N;s/\n/ /'

For new MD5: $ curl -sL | sed -n '35p'

@dschaefer79 try to install ice-ssb: This will take care of necessary simlink for you. Hope it works

@tjuszki I have made what you said, but it's not working.

Installed the latest version last night, facing severe jerks and non fluid kinda software rendering.

Anybody having issues with keyboard shortcuts not working on the latest version? Not sure if it's Chrome or something else.

EDIT: I fixed this by opening a new window from the menu and closing the existing windows. The existing windows, for some reason, weren't working, but new windows were. Weird bug!

@dschaefer79 In my case moving Google Chrome on top of the list in KDE Plasma -> System Settings -> Applications -> File Associations -> application/xhtml+xml resolved the issue.

I have again the problem set as default as the startup of chrome that won't go away. Does anyone have a solution ? Thanks,

zerophase flagged google-chrome out-of-date on 2018-10-26 for the following reason:

Chrome notifies an update is out.

Let it. There isn't.

Either it's an extension scamming you, or you don't have 70.0.3538.77. You have complete instructions right there how to check the latest versions. You could've even downloaded/verified the MD5 yourself.

google-chrome-stable_70.0.3538.67_amd64.deb has wrong checksum.

Should be 297579a04aadce6ea9502e536e44edd3 according to PKGBUILD.

But on my machines I get this instead:

md5sum google-chrome-stable_current_amd64.deb ⏎ 2c51740867a6a8b5e53e227c62822465

The problem is gone

Depends very much on your DE (desktop environment, KDE, GNOME, etc.).
