About Firefox support, see this:
https://gsuiteupdates.googleblog.com/2017/02/google-hangouts-temporary-issues-with-firefox.html

TLDR: Somewhere in the future, Hangouts will work in Firefox without plugins. In the meantime switch to another browser or use Firefox ESR.

What to do now? Drop google-talkplugin for good? Just trying to understand @Ghosy last comment...

In response to users having issues with Firefox and compatibility, Firefox 52 is the first version that is removing support for all NPAPI plugins, with the exception of Flash. Though there will be a preference in FF 52, which will be removed in FF 53, which will allow you to re-enable NPAPI plugins. There are plans to have a solution to allow the use of Google Hangouts without the need of a plugin, which will hopefully ship with FF 53. If you find that you need support for NPAPI plugins after FF 53, there should be support for these plugins using the Firefox ESR client through 2017.

in firefox nightly of aur, for me, it is imposible to use google talk since a few weeks or a month, with the stable version is functions, but I think the plugins except flahs are going to be not supported... each time I want to use google talk I have to use chromium or firefox stable..

Not sure about firefox nightly, but works fine for stable version.

heftig,

Don't you think its too much hassle to verify the checksum changed and manually increment the license numver? I used to update the checksum every rebuild, but looks like this wasn't working for all users, so I decided to SKIP license file checks.

heftig commented on 2016-11-01 10:28

If you SKIP the checksum you're ignoring license updates.

Please version the local license file name instead and bump it whenever the content changes (google-talkplugin-license-1.html::, google-talkplugin-license-2.html::, etc).
