Maybe a wine package for the v3 could be done but it should not supersede this one in any way, as this is the last version for Linux. Users can run wine at their conveniance, but it's a better idea to just use VLC than running VR Player with wine honestly.

Maybe update to version 3.0.5 and run it via wine?

There is no need to mark this packet out of date, the linux support has been discontinued for version 3+ :-(
