@rogorido, are you using a modified /etc/makepkg.conf? I'm wondering if you're using the parallel option in your MAKEFLAGS (-j) that isn't playing well with gretl's make install.

THanks again: https://pastebin.com/BP4hWwes I have cut some text of the compilation because it was too big for pastebin. In any case, the compilation itself does not give any error as far as I can see. It is the package build itself...

@rogorido Thanks for checking. Is it even creating gretl.pc? You can check this when ./configure is being run, e.g.: [...] configure: creating ./config.status config.status: creating Makefile config.status: creating gretl_sh config.status: creating gretl.pc [...] You should also find that the ../usr/lib/pkgconfig dir is getting created: [...] make[1]: Entering directory '/home/me/gretl/src/gretl-2017c/lib' ../tools/mkinstalldirs /home/me/gretl/pkg/gretl/usr/lib /home/me/gretl/pkg/gretl/usr/include/gretl /home/me/gretl/pkg/gretl/usr/lib/pkgconfig mkdir -p -- /home/me/gretl/pkg/gretl/usr/lib /home/me/gretl/pkg/gretl/usr/include/gretl /home/me/gretl/pkg/gretl/usr/lib/pkgconfig [...] I've built this successfully on a fresh install of Arch, so this is a bit strange.

@rogorido, do you have the pkg-config package installed? If not, try installing it. If that's the problem, I will update the PKGBUILD to include it as a build dep.

gretl-2017c does not compile. It fails with the following message: make[1]: Entering directory '/home/igor/giteando/aur/gretl/src/gretl-2017c/lib' ../tools/mkinstalldirs /home/igor/giteando/aur/gretl/pkg/gretl/usr/lib /home/igor/giteando/aur/gretl/pkg/gretl/usr/include/gretl /home/igor/giteando/aur/gretl/pkg/gretl/usr/lib/pkgconfig /usr/bin/install -c -m 644 ../gretl.pc /home/igor/giteando/aur/gretl/pkg/gretl/usr/lib/pkgconfig /usr/bin/install: cannot create regular file '/home/igor/giteando/aur/gretl/pkg/gretl/usr/lib/pkgconfig': No such file or directory make[1]: *** [Makefile:318: install-cfg] Error 1 make[1]: *** Waiting for unfinished jobs.... Any ideas?

Dependency gnuplot is necessary and should be specified.
