This fails for me with:

src/gtk-3.0/gtk.gresource.xml: Failed to locate “assets/checkbox-checked-dark.png” in any source directory.
make: *** [Makefile:37: gresource] Error 1
==> ERROR: A failure occurred in package().
    Aborting...

should be fixed now. The bug was caused by an inkscape update.

Inkscape 1.0 has a slightly different command line interface than 0.92 had. The fix checks for the installed inkscape version and uses the appropriate options.

see the issue for further information.

Note: Inkscape prints a bunch of CRITICAL log messages about dbus since version 1.0 for me, but rendering works anyway

developer here, I can reproduce the issue, I'm trying to check what caused it.

I've got same error as @haawda...

Maybe an upstream issue, but there seems at least one file missing

      write src/gtk-3.20/dist/gtk-dark.css
      write src/gtk-3.20/dist/gtk.css
glib-compile-resources --sourcedir=src/gtk-3.0 src/gtk-3.0/gtk.gresource.xml
src/gtk-3.0/gtk.gresource.xml: Failed to locate ?assets/checkbox-checked-dark.png? in any source directory.
make: *** [Makefile:31: gresource] Error 1
==> ERROR: A failure occurred in package().

Thanks, good to see the migration worked. I had a lot of stuff to do to get the dark theme working, just to get on par with the original. Do you use the light or the dark variant? I use the light one, which is why I prioritized it.
